Synopsis

We often celebrate the authors behind successful novels - but in the complex journey from manuscript to published book, who truly drives the process? In this talk, Jeeva Karikalan of Yaavarum Publishers, delves into the world of literary publishing and gets candid about the lesser known challenges faced by publishers. Discover publishing options and models, as well as considerations behind publishing a debut work.

Whether you’re an aspiring writer or a curious reader, this talk will equip you with a practical overview of the literary publishing scene.

'புதுயுகத்தின் முகம்' எனும் அறிமுகத்தை யாவரும் பதிப்பகம் தாங்கி நிற்கிறது. இதன் நட்பு அமைப்புகள் மலேசியா, சிங்கப்பூர் & இலங்கை ஆகிய நாடுகளில் இருக்கின்றன.

மேலும் ஜீவ கரிகாலன் எழுத்தாளராக சிறுகதைகள், கலை-ஓவியம் குறித்த கட்டுரைகள், பத்திகள் என எழுதி வருகிறார்.

பாராம்பரியமிக்க கணையாழி இதழின் துணை ஆசிரியராகப் பணியாற்றியுள்ளார். தமிழில் காமிக்ஸ்/கிராஃபிக் நாவல்கள் கொண்டு வருவதே இவரது நீண்ட கால கனவாகக் கொண்டுள்ளார்

About the Speaker:

Jeeva Karikalan (1984), also known as Kalidasan, is a writer and publisher. Since 2012, he has been actively involved in a literary organisation and an online magazine, which he co-founded with friends. In 2013, he established the publishing house 'Yaavarum Publishers.'

'Yaavarum Publishers' was founded with the mission of publishing and supporting emerging talent. To date, the firm has introduced over 75 new writers. With the tagline "The Face of the New Age," the publication collaborates with affiliates in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Sri Lanka.

In addition to his work as a publisher, Jeeva Karikalan is a writer who specialises in short stories, articles, and columns on art and painting. He has also served as an associate editor for the traditional magazine Kaniyazhi. One of his long-held dreams is to bring comics and graphic novels to the Tamil literary scene.

Cancellation:

The programme can be cancelled or postponed two weeks before the programme date if the minimum number of participants is not met. Participants will be fully refunded for workshops cancelled by us.

Participants who are unable to attend a workshop they have registered for are to inform us of the reason two weeks before the workshop date. They will be fully refunded in the event of extenuating and mitigating circumstances (E.g. illness, bereavement, accidents) . Those who inform us up to 5 working days before the workshop date will receive a 50% refund. Those who did not turn up at the workshop will not receive a refund.

Upon registration, you are deemed to have read and understood the cancellation and withdrawal policy and accept the terms contained therein.
