Cantiamo: Baroque Music of England & France with Red Dot Baroque

Inspirational life-affirming music-making is at the heart of the YST Conservatory. Centred in one of the world’s most dynamic countries, YST is uniquely placed to offer a distinct and powerful contemporary Asian voice.The Conservatory brings together a world-class faculty and facility to nurture students in performance, composition, production and engagement. Through our undergraduate, graduate, continuing education and youth offerings, we connect dynamically with the surrounding musical ecosystem. We host a vibrant performance calendar with around 200 concerts annually, featuring students and faculty alongside international artists. Our community engagement programme has extensive local and global reach. Students are supported to find their own artistic pathways through exchanges, festivals, competitions and projects. More broadly, our international networks further enhance the educational experience and ensure our continued evolution.

YST Voice majors, joined by YST Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque, present vocal selections from Henry Purcell and the French baroque cantata, as part the Song Festival: The Voices of France &amp; England. Supported by the Shaw Foundation Ones to Watch Series. ABOUT SONG FESTIVAL: THE VOICES OF ENGLAND &amp; FRANCE – 300 YEARS OF VOCAL MUSICJoin members of the YST Voice Department in this two-part song festival as we explore the unique time periods, societal and language elements which came together to contribute to pivotal flourishings of English and French vocal music.In Part 1 last semester, we focused on the prolific contributions of Francis Poulenc and Benjamin Britten. This semester, we will travel 300 years earlier and explore the vast repertoire of the French Baroque cantata and the genius of Henry Purcell, featuring the YST Voice majors and guest artist Mark Tucker in collaboration with YST Ensemble-in-Residence Red Dot Baroque, led by Artistic Director Alan Choo.
