How will the audition be conducted?

A confirmation email will be sent with the audition date and time after registration. On the audition day, all auditionees will be required to come 10 minutes before their scheduled audition time for attendance taking. Once the panel is ready, auditionees will proceed for their audition.

What does the audition consist of?

One song/work of your choice in any language, that is around 1 minute in length, short score excerpts (provided by VOS on the audition day), simple musical scales and a few questions for us to get to know you better!

Question 3

Can I audition with a live accompanist or recorded accompaniment?

Accepted Answer

Auditionees are encouraged to audition unaccompanied, though you may audition with a pre-recorded accompaniment if desired.

If you would like to audition with your own live accompanist, kindly let us know at least 3 days before the audition.

Question 4

Do I need to memorise the song for the audition?

Accepted Answer

We highly recommend memorising your audition piece. You may alternatively hold the sheet of music in front of you, ensuring that it does not block your face.

Question 5

What should I wear for my audition?

We encourage all auditionees to be dressed in smart casual attire.

Question 6

Will there be an audition fee for the in-person auditions?

Accepted Answer

Yes, audition fees are at a nominal fee of $15.00 SGD (excluding GST and platform fees) for each auditionee. Voices of Singapore is a charity organisation, and audition fees will help to cover administrative costs for the auditions.

What if I am not available on the audition date and time that has been allocated to me?

Do email us at voscc@voicesofsingapore.com so we can find a suitable day and time for the audition. Auditions may be rescheduled up to 1 week before the audition date. Please be informed that auditionees will only be allowed to reschedule their audition date once with a valid reason.

Can I video the audition?

Do note that personal video and audio recordings of the audition process will not be permitted.

Question 9

When do rehearsals take place?

Accepted Answer

Weekly rehearsals take place on Saturdays, with varying durations. Junior Choir 1 and 2 rehearsals last 1.5 hrs, while Junior Choir 3. Intermediate, Senior Choirs, Performing Group, and Concert Group rehearsals typically run for about 2.5 hrs.

Any tips to ace my audition?

Be well prepared, and drink lots of water. It’s natural to feel nervous, but just be yourself! Our panelists would love to get to know you better.
