International Jazz Day 2026: Celebrate the Roots of Jazz with What The Jazz

In June 2022, the iconic Singapore music venue Blu Jaz reopened its live music program with the Jazz Loft, located on the 3rd floor of it’s premises at Bali Lane.The mission of this new space, is to showcase jazz, and improvisation, as an evolving art form, rather than a museum-piece, presenting those artists, both local and international, that are part of the forward motion, and artistic development of the music.

This International Jazz Day (30 April), experience jazz music and dance in four different ways!

This April 30th, celebrate UNESCO International Jazz Day (AND International Dance Day on April 29th) by revisiting the roots of jazz when it was both the popular music and dance music of the day. Join us at the Jazz Loft (Blu Jaz) for a taste of four different ways to experience the rhythms, groove and language of jazz. The night will be led by seasoned educators - dancer-vocalist Sinclair Ang (Jazz Inc), tap dancer Alicia Loo and jazz pianist Amanda Lee. This event is generously supported by Eden Resources. Programme:7pm - Doors open730-810pm - Lindy Hop Taster by Jazz Inc810-850pm - Tap Dance Taster by Alicia Loo850-930pm - Song Study by Amanda Lee930-1030pm - Jazz Jam Venue:The Jazz Loft, Blu Jaz Level 3, Haji Lane Date:30 April 2026, Thursday   Admission:Tickets sold on Eventbrite ($25 + platform fee). Limited tickets available at the door ($32).Musicians can join the jam for free, subject to spaces. A ticket is required to attend the other activities. --- Programme description 730-810pm: Lindy Hop Taster by Jazz IncCommunicate with your partner without words as you learn the basics of this partner dance and groove to the infectious groove of swing music! 810-850pm: Tap Dance Taster by Alicia LooDiscover how your feet can bring rhythm to life with basic steps, musicality, and groove! Wear leather soled shoes/ tap dance shoes, if you have! 850-930pm: Song Study by Amanda LeeDeep dive and learn different aspects of a classic jazz standard. Bring along an instrument, if you want! 930-1030pm: Open Jazz JamListen and observe a live jam in action!
