YST Orchestral Institute x NUS Symphony Orchestra

Inspirational life-affirming music-making is at the heart of the YST Conservatory. Centred in one of the world’s most dynamic countries, YST is uniquely placed to offer a distinct and powerful contemporary Asian voice.The Conservatory brings together a world-class faculty and facility to nurture students in performance, composition, production and engagement. Through our undergraduate, graduate, continuing education and youth offerings, we connect dynamically with the surrounding musical ecosystem. We host a vibrant performance calendar with around 200 concerts annually, featuring students and faculty alongside international artists. Our community engagement programme has extensive local and global reach. Students are supported to find their own artistic pathways through exchanges, festivals, competitions and projects. More broadly, our international networks further enhance the educational experience and ensure our continued evolution.

Allegro ma non troppo ABOUT THIS EVENTStudents from the NUS Symphony Orchestra (NUSSO) and YST Orchestral Institute come together in a side by side concert for the first time, united by a shared love for music as they perform orchestral classics, conducted by Assoc Prof Chan Tze Law (Vice Dean at both YST and the NUS Centre for the Arts).For years now, NUSSO and student soloists from YST have collaborated in the yearly Miniatures chamber concerts. In celebration of the deepening relationship between YST and CFA, this concert takes the collaboration to the next level in a programme of symphonic classics reprising the YST orchestra’s inaugural concert just over 20 years ago.
