About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Once a window to look into Japanese culture, ‘Anime’ used to be associated with subcultures of the teens and ‘Otaku’/geeks. Now, it is a global pop culture influencing many in not just cosplaying but also in arts and music. We choristers appreciate all the best music and stories found in the anime – probably many of which hold a special place for the nerds in our hearts. Beyond the fan favorites classics from Studio Ghibli, let us dive into music from ‘Suzume’, ‘Attack on Titan’, and ‘Evangelion’ to name a few. We might even throw in a couple tunes by J-pop dynamic Duo, YOASOBI for good measure.

What’s YOUR favorite anime? Come and explore with the YST Chamber Singers!

Inspirational life-affirming music-making is at the heart of the YST Conservatory. Centred in one of the world’s most dynamic countries, YST is uniquely placed to offer a distinct and powerful contemporary Asian voice.

The Conservatory brings together a world-class faculty and facility to nurture students in performance, composition, production and engagement. Through our undergraduate, graduate, continuing education and youth offerings, we connect dynamically with the surrounding musical ecosystem. We host a vibrant performance calendar with around 200 concerts annually, featuring students and faculty alongside international artists. Our community engagement programme has extensive local and global reach. Students are supported to find their own artistic pathways through exchanges, festivals, competitions and projects. More broadly, our international networks further enhance the educational experience and ensure our continued evolution.
