About this event

In a world inundated with products and services vying for attention, what truly sets something apart? What makes us not just appreciate but deeply cherish certain designs? The answer lies in the essence of what we’d like to call “Lovable Design.”

Lovable Design transcends mere functionality or aesthetics; it delves into the realm of emotional connection. It’s about infusing products, interfaces, and experiences with a sense of warmth, empathy, and delight. It’s the art of designing with heart.

So, what are the key ingredients of Lovable Design? Join us for an unforgettable journey in unlocking the transformative power of Lovable Design together!

Circle Connects 3: Lovable Design will be moderated by Keith Oh, EXCO Member of DBCS, and will feature insightful discussions from our panel of speakers: Naveen Sethia, Rodney Loh, and Ahmad Habshee.

Keith stumbled into design. He started out as a computer engineer. Somehow, along the way, he discovered cognitive psychology and human-computer interaction. Since then, he has been curious about how technology changes the way we work, play and engage with one another. And he wants to use all that he has learned from his multi-disciplinary training to create meaningful experiences in tech. Keith has worked across several industries, including healthcare, finance, agriculture, entertainment and public services. Now, he is championing the circular economy as Head of Product Design at Carousell.

Naveen is an Experience Design leader with passion for working with new technologies, new channels, interpret social and business trends to deliver what is next. Recently he’s working at Trust Bank Singapore as Head of Design and Customer Experience. Prior to Trust Bank, He worked as a design leader at DBS Bank, Visa, and Microsoft.

Rodney is an award-winning industrial designer with over 20 years of product innovation and development experience. As the founder of the innovation design consultancy NextOfKin Creatives, Rodney is an agent of change and believes that design is an attitude that empowers positive outcomes for the future. Rodney had the privilege to work across diverse industries, delivering gaming changing solutions to organisations like Kohler, Samsung, HP, Ministry of Communications and Information, Singapore Furniture Industries Council, Diageo and SATS.

Ahmad Alhabshee, founder of Urban Salvation, leads a company dedicated to crafting bespoke wooden furniture from sustainably sourced materials. With a background in the entertainment industry and a deep passion for woodworking, I transitioned to furniture making to combine creativity and sustainability. Our mission is to create timeless, eco-friendly pieces that enrich lives and promote responsible craftsmanship in the furniture industry. At Urban Salvation, we believe in the power of sustainable design to inspire and transform, making a positive impact on our environment and community.

Design Business Chamber Singapore (DBCS) is the nation’s leading multidisciplinary design chamber since 1985. DBCS’ vision is to establish a community of practice that embraces design-led innovation as a key driver for sustainable growth. We do so by forging partnership opportunities between the design and business communities.

In recent years, we incorporated the tagline -Better Business by Design - as our manifesto in advocating the application of design thinking in business. Our ultimate aim is to rally businesses and communities to not just achieve Better Business by Design but to use design for social good.

Founded in 1985 by a diverse group of forward-thinking designers, we were formerly known as the Designers Association Singapore and were renamed to Design Business Chamber Singapore in 2012.
