Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring my own bicycle?

You can choose to bring your own bicycle, or rent a Brompton from us (charges apply). If you bring your own bicycle, please check and ensure that it is in good mechanical condition. Note that electric bicycles or Power-Assisted Bicycles (PAB) are not allowed.

Are you able to rent out a bicycle for the tour?

Yes, we have Brompton folding bikes available for rent for the tour. Charges apply. Please choose the "Participating with rental Brompton" when checking out. If you are renting a bike from us, you will need to come back to the start point to return the bike.

Will I need to cycle fast?

Not at all. We will be cycling at a very leisurely pace of about 10-15kmh. This is just slightly faster than jogging speed. In fact, the tour will stop at multiple points along the ride, so that our guide can point out interesting plants/flowers and buildings to participants.

Are helmets compulsory?

Helmets are optional for this tour. We will not be cycling on public roads.

Is insurance provided for participants?

No, participants are encouraged to purchase their own insurance coverage. The organisers are not liable for any injuries or damage to your bicycles or personal belongings arising from the tour.

Where is the meeting point?

We will meet outside KAP Mall, Level 1, right outside the main entrance at the bottom of the escalator, beside YEAST SIDE Cafe.

What happens in the event of bad weather?

The tour will proceed if there is a light shower. However, if there is any lightning risk, the tour will be cancelled for safety reasons.

What is the total distance of the tour?

It is about 30km roundtrip.

What will I expect to see/experience in the tour?

The guide will highlight interesting plants along the way, as well as provide a general overview of the heritage buildings at the Civic District, such as the Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall, Old Parliament House, Cavanagh Bridge, Anderson Bridge, Elgin Bridge, Fullerton Hotel, Merlion, Padang etc.

How long will the tour take?

The tour sets off from KAP at 0830h, and is expected to return back at around 1230h. If you are using your own bike, you may choose to leave the group at any point along the tour.

What language is the tour conducted in?

It will be conducted in English by an STB Licensed Tour Guide.

What is the difference between this Cycling Tour by 808 Tours and other group rides?

This is a cycling tour, not a community ride. A cycling tour is educational in nature and will make multiple stops along the way, and our STB Licensed Tour Guide will point out interesting plants/flowers and buildings and give brief commentaries.

Who is this tour designed for?

This tour is designed for tourists, expatriates who have just arrived, or even locals who would love to find out more about our local heritage.
