[About Workshop]

Dunhuang dance is a distinctive art form that draws inspiration from the frescoes of the Mogao Caves in Dunhuang. Renowned for its graceful movements, elaborate hand gestures, and spiritual essence, the Dunhuang dance vividly portrays celestial beings and Buddhist motifs. It stands as a remarkable example of cross-cultural fusion, integrating elements from both Chinese and Indian artistic traditions.

This 4-day intensive workshop is tailored for experienced dance practitioners and enthusiasts aged 16 and above, with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Designed to elevate artistic skills and deepen appreciation for the dance form, the programme offers a focused and immersive learning experience. Participants will have the opportunity to refine their techniques, explore advanced concepts, and engage in meaningful artistic growth under the guidance of an expert.

This workshop is conducted by Ms. Li Qian, a distinguished lecturer from the Dance Academy of Northwest Minzu University in China. She is currently pursuing her master's degree in the art of Chinese ethnic minorities, with a focus on Dunhuang dance research. She studies under the guidance of Professor Gao Jinrong, the pioneer behind the Dunhuang dance teaching system.
