About MUSIC IMPROVISATION COLLECTIVE

Music Improvisation Collective (MIC) is a community-based initiative which promotes research, education and performance in the area of music improvisation (Jazz, Pop, Fusion, Rock, Blues, New Age, Avant-garde, computer-based music, classical re-interpretations, etc.).

Music improvisation is about creating and making music that goes beyond the traditional music score - we want to nurture the community to develop the courage to experiment, the heart to learn and think creatively. MIC aims to provide a community-based platform for all to try their hand at improvising, playing with others in a non-threatening and safe environment where they would not be 'judged'. These could be people who have been in school bands in the past, or any individual who plays music but may not be in the 'professional' category.
