About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

We’ll take the old-fashioned walk through what was once a primitive riverine estuary - complete with a tribal nomadic community (Orang Seletar) living on boats by the riversides. It is surreal that they were once the real original folks on this land. So, where have they gone to?

Our tour will include a walk along the very same river these folks once lived on. It wasn’t long ago when these folks lived off the rivers around these areas. Today, Sungai Seletar is a far cry from what it used to be. We’ll take a long hard look at these folks (and try and rediscover their roots).

This is a tour that spans an era of about 6, maybe 7 decades. We’ll witness the transformation of Springleaf from a coconut and rubber plantation into a modern community. It is unimaginable that the rivers and streams that the Orang Seletar once hunted on are now canals and drains – and a reservoir!

We meet at 9am, Khatib MRT station on the 20th April 2025 (SUNDAY), just next to the MRT control station.
