About this event

In conjunction with the National Para Athletics Championships 2025, we have curated a Frame Running Discovery session for persons with physical impairments, aged 6 years old & above. No experience is needed. Running frames will be provided to participants for the tryout, along with helmets and safety guards. Please note that registration will not guarantee that we can fit an appropriate frame; however, we will support you as best we can.

About the sport

Frame Running is a liberating sport that opens up a world of possibilities for individuals with limited mobility, balance or range of motion to experience the sheer joy, freedom, and excitement of running like never before.

Frame Running involves specially designed, custom-built three-wheeled frames that offer full support. The individual is comfortably seated and secured against a chest support, enabling them to move forward by propelling themselves with their feet (either one or both) while using their hands and/or arms to steer.

Who Can Use a Running Frame?

Frame Running is particularly suitable for persons with the following conditions:

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Muscular Dystrophy
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Spasticity
  • Arthritis
  • Spina Bifida
  • Individuals recovering from stroke
  • Individuals in physical therapy or rehab
  • General muscle weakness

What Are the Benefits of Frame Running?

With the proper equipment and technique, Frame Running can bring individuals with disabilities many potential benefits:

  • Improve muscle strength and cardiovascular functions, or slow their decline
  • Increase flexibility, balance and coordination
  • Improve general well-being and self esteem
