About this event
Deepen your leadership, public speaking, and problem-solving skills by exploring the tools of theatre improvisation (improv). In seven workshops, we will work with our bodies, voices, and minds to practice and apply improvisers' techniques to founder challenges. This series is designed specifically for entrepreneurs. Each 90-minute workshop features fun, hands-on exercises focusing on different aspects of being a founder.
What Makes it Unique:
By focusing on the body, voice, and mind, participants not only work on their communication and creativity but also develop resilience, adaptability, and quick thinking in the face of uncertainty—key traits for successful entrepreneurs. The playful yet impactful approach sets it apart from more traditional business training.
What to Expect:
March 5 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Intro session
Flex your creative muscles in this hands-on improv workshop. Explore the tools of improvisational theatre and how they apply to entrepreneurship and leadership. No prior improv experience is needed, everyone’s welcome. Wear comfortable clothes and get ready to move.
March 13 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Creativity session
We explore tools for rapid idea generation to unleash our creative skills. We’ll practice the concept of “yes, and,” a fundamental principle in improvisational theatre, and an invaluable skill for entrepreneurs. Learn how to accept and build on other people’s ideas, and focus on being spontaneous rather than trying to be clever.
March 19 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Leadership session
We address the constant uncertainty of entrepreneurship and how to lead effectively through chaos. We’ll explore our limitations as we build businesses from scratch and learn how to turn them to our advantage. We identify and practice removing mental blocks and finding ways to build momentum. We examine communication and how easily our message gets lost on the way.
March 26 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Public speaking session
Get more comfortable pitching and presenting your ideas. In this session, we practice public speaking and find clarity in our pitches. We work on ways to inspire the people around us to get them on board the crazy mission of building something new.
April 2 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Risk-taking session
Building companies means taking risks. In this workshop, we build resilience and celebrate our failures. We practice handling rejections to bounce back stronger. We will step outside our comfort zones to explore what thrilling things we may find when we’re no longer comfortable and safe.
April 23 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Negotiation session
Practicing improvisation is a great way of building empathy. We will identify non-verbal cues and work on active listening. We explore status, and how to observe and use it in business settings. Negotiating is about listening. Listening can be surprisingly hard, but negotiating can be remarkably easy if you do.
April 30 – Improv for entrepreneurs – Final session
In this final workshop for entrepreneurs, we reflect on insights, revisit tools, and connect them to our daily lives as leaders. We share our perceptions about communication and leadership and identify concrete next steps in our entrepreneurial journeys. We summarize the group’s takeaways and how to integrate them into our professional (and personal) lives.
