Experience a taste of undergraduate study with our Subject Matters lecture series. During these sessions you’ll take part in a taster lecture delivered by one of our students on a topic related to their degree. After the lecture there’ll also be time for a lively discussion and debate with fellow prospective students.
A case study in criminology. In today’s world, there are secret societies that have independently defined pillars on community, moral values, and rituals, often in elusive ways. One such society is the Freemasons. To unravel these societies takes a skillset of critical thinking and investigation found within the realm of criminology. By the end of this session, you'll be able to learn the critical thinking and investigative skills to find out how these societies operate and use these same skills to make investigations of your own.
You will learn how to:
- Develop new reading techniques of criminality.
- Common knowledge shared between secret societies and new forms of communication among them.
- Inspire people to look behind the scenes and be curious to investigate further.
I'm Tiziana, a second year student studying BA (Hons) Criminology and International Security at London Metropolitan University. Join me in this Subject Matters Session to learn more about the formation of more elusive societies such as the Freemasons and how you can use the skills taught in criminology to read into them.
