About this event
OVERVIEW
As cities continue to grow and urban populations rise, the future of sustainability will be determined by how we design, build, and move within our cities. From green mobility to sustainable construction and climate-informed policy, every choice plays a role in shaping resilient, livable urban environments.
The Matcha Initiative’s upcoming evening event brings together three dynamic and interactive workshops that dive into the heart of Sustainable Cities. Whether you're curious about how to make transport systems greener, how the built environment contributes to carbon emissions, or how global policies play out at the local level, there’s a workshop here for you.
Join us for an evening of learning, collaboration, and solution-building, where we’ll explore what it really takes to build the cities of tomorrow.
After registering on Eventbrite, you will receive an email to join ONE of the three interactive workshops. Please check your email regularly and your spam/junk folders if you do not receive the email:
1) The Mobility Collage - Green Transportation for Singapore
Explore the data behind Singapore’s transport and energy sectors, and uncover how mobility choices impact our climate and quality of life.Based on IPCC science, the Shift Project, and Impact CO2, this workshop uses roleplay and collaborative mapping to identify real-world solutions for green mobility in the Singapore context.
What to expect:
- Facts and figures about local transportation systems
- Ecological and social impacts of current modes of transport
- Roleplay activities to build green mobility pathways
Perfect for: Citizens, decision-makers, students, companies - anyone curious about shifting toward more sustainable transport in Singapore.
2) The Construction Collage - Building Sustainably
From cement to cooling, the way we construct our cities has a massive environmental footprint. This hands-on workshop demystifies how the built environment contributes to emissions and what we can do about it.
What you’ll learn:
- The carbon cost of materials like cement and steel
- Energy use in construction and the urban heat island effect
- Waste generation and sustainable alternatives
Whether you’re in the industry or simply passionate about sustainable innovation, this session will get you thinking differently about buildings and climate.
3) En-ROADS Climate Workshop - Climate Solutions in Action
What global policies can lead us to a safer, cooler future - and how do they play out locally?Using the powerful En-ROADS climate simulator, this workshop explores the impact of decisions across sectors. Through interactive modeling and real-time data, participants explore solutions and trade-offs to make informed, impactful climate choices.
No experience required. Whether you're a policy nerd or just curious, this session is for anyone interested in seeing what climate solutions actually work - globally and locally.
For En-ROADS participants, you are encouraged to bring a laptop/tablet for the workshop. However, this is not compulsory
