Join us for "Visual Dojo".

What is a visual Dojo? A place to practice: scribing, lettering, storytelling

Do you have an upcoming client event? Let's practice that. Don't have an upcoming event? We'll give you one and we can practice together.

Bring your markers or work with ours.

Bring your questions or projects and we can sketch together.

Bring a guest and put a marker in their hands

We will provide:

Recycled paper, markers, a beautiful conducive space, simple delicious snacks prepared by Irene Sunshine aka New You Cafe

Dojo means "place of the way". Let's practice our "visual ways" in a supportive and immersive environment

$15 includes a drink, delicious avocado, chicken croisswich, or sourdough sandwich, and covers venue cost.

Its a free and easy session, come as you can, or come for both for more practice! Invite a curious creative friend :)

NOTE: We often have free and paid upcoming events that require multiple scribes. The "Visual Dojo" is a great opportunity to practice your skills in prep for these events.

Note: no Japanese language, martial arts or calligraphy skills are required, haha ;) Just your curiosity and willingness to learn and try new powerful skills.

About our Upcoming Visual Dojos

DECEMBER DOJO
Its Visual Dojo Christmas Edition! We will invite 3 speakers to share their heartwarming and humorous holiday stories, and you will have the opportunity to scribe each of them live. Tim will provide coaching and guidance on scribing multiple stories across a theme.

We will also share a few tips and resources on creating and using end-of-the-year reflection templates

FEBRUARY DOJO
Prepare for an enlightening sharing on the theme of the Lunar New Year, and lessons we can learn from the Wood Snake

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to know how to draw?

No. When teaching this work, we always prioritise "words first", and for the content to inform the process. If you're able to draw a stick figure, that good enough. And who can't draw a stick figure, haha :)

Can I bring a friend or colleague?

Absolutely. We encourage you to bring a friend, colleague or client who is curious to see and experience this visual scribing work. It may lead to more opportunities for collaboration or for you to scribe for their upcoming meetings or events.

Whats the format for the evening?

Yummy F&B treats from NYC welcome you. Simple visual introduction & energizer, followed by sharing a new tool, tip, or process. After that, our guest speaker will share an initiative or project. During this sharing of about 20 minutes we encourage everyone to try their hand at listening & scribing.

Do I need to scribe during the session?

Of course, you may wish to observe. But the real magic happens when you put a marker in your hand and try out this skill . The supportive community, tools and environment make it easier to try it out. You may just experience a reframe in your relationship with your creativity.

Will dinner be provided?

As part of your registration, we will provide a yummy croiswich or sourdough chicken or avocado sandwich and healthy drinks lovingly prepared by Irene & her team from New You Cafe.
