Poster Fish Promotions
Poster Fish Promotions was established in 2011 and has since hosted many nuanced and slightly off-kilter events. Working with genres as diverse as reggae, dancehall, punk, new wave, ska, folk, trad, techno, drum & bass, jungle, grime, electronic, blues, hip-hop, jazz, balkanbeat and afrobeat, PFP has operated largely as a not-for-profit and focused on cultivating new spaces and supporting Ireland’s underground music scenes.
We are currently managing new wave synth pop band Dash! and hosting monthly nights with them on the first Thursday of every month in Fibber Magee's basement. We are also working with psychedelic folk rock band A Clatter and Drone. We have a number of fundraiser events coming up so watch this space.
After running the venue at Rutá Live/O’Byrne’s on Capel Street for about a year and working with Sounds of Resistance and other groups to run fundraiser gigs PFP formed fairly organically to meet its circumstances. We started off running gigs in The Dark Horse Inn on Burgh Quay in Dublin and also established regular nights in King 7 on Capel Street (formerly Melody Bar) and Seomra Spraoi, an autonoumous social centre in Dublin’s north city centre.
Working with Irish Traveller musicians forms a big part of our musical output since 2014. Travellers are Ireland’s only indigenous ethnic minority group, traditionally nomadic and sociallydeprived. We've hosted gigs and concerts designed to showcase the great musical talents amongst Travellers and to celebrate the amazing, and often overlooked, contribution that Travellers have made to Irish traditional music.
